How much has Ezra Miller affected The Flash?

How do we deal with this? Ezra Miller has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Many people are right to say that we should not support the actor. But what about the hundreds and thousands of people who worked on the movie putting in their all? How would they feel if you told them all their work won't be appreciated or worse won't be watched because of someone else's mistake. The point here is treat The Flash like a normal movie and definitely Ezra's actions shouldn't be condoned but don't let others suffer because of them. That being said you are free to choose. Now with that out of the way let's move on to the review.

I was among the lucky few who got to see The Flash 10 days before the world as part of The Flash Fan First screenings in India and it was a really good experience.

To be fair, I'm not a huge DC fan. I don't know as much about DC as I know about Marvel. So if I seem to not get something that's the reason. Let's get started.

Ezra's effect on the film

All controversies aside, Ezra Miller was really good in this movie. They had to play two distinct characters sometimes sharing the screen with themselves and they did it well. From the trailers it seemed like it would not be good but Ezra really did a lot to differentiate between the two versions of the character. It's a shame because wasn't for all the controversies everyone would be talking about how great they are in the movie.

"You wanna get nuts? Let's get nuts"

I've not watched the older movies, and in this case the Michael Keaton Batman movies. Michael Keaton was great as Batman and he had some really cool scenes. It didn't feel out of place. I'm just so happy for all fans of this version of the character that they got to see him again in action.

Daughter Of Krypton

Sasha Calle looks stunning as Supergirl. Her costume looks great. But her action scenes didn't live up to those of Superman in Man Of Steel and some of her best bits were given away in the trailers. When Superman fought the Kryptonians in Man Of Steel you felt the fastness of these aliens and each hit had an impact, which is one of the reasons I liked the movie. While this movie replicates the same style for Supergirl, it falls short and is not as effective as in Man Of Steel. Supergirl seems to be an interesting character with a good look and I would love to see more of her in the future of the DC Universe.

The Zod problem

The Zod part didn't work for me at all. The trailers made the return of Zod seem like a big deal, Barry had done something so terrible that changed history and brought back Zod. But in the movie that feeling is lost. The problem could still lie in the beginning - the DCEU was not properly built out for such scenes to have an impact.

The cameos

It is so hard to get any surprises these days because of all the leaks but I was surprised at how much the movie was able to surprise me, if that makes sense. My favourite member of the trinity makes a very short cameo and the ending has some classics returning and one actor finally gets to dawn the cape. These scenes generated such loud cheers and I loved it.

"Some problems don't have a solution. You need to let it go"

The Flash has some really good comedy and it is surprising how funny the movie is. Towards the end the film lost me because of the time travel rules and it just didn't make sense. I felt they could have done much more with this concept and highlighted in a better way how much Barry's mom's death played a role in Barry becoming the hero he is.

While everyone literally clapped when Barry did the change at the end of the movie, I was just waiting for the inevitable to happen - the cliffhanger ending. Because just as explained by Bruce the rules are different so it was meant to happen.

We were shown the movie and told that this was not the final cut so we don't know yet if the ending we saw was the ending they finalised, but it is a great cliffhanger to get back to if The Flash performs well despite all the negativity around it.
